So, one day, kinda out of the blue, the husband said ‘I’ve bought two one-year pass to LegoLand. One for you and one for me.’ I was a bit dumbfounded because judging from his work schedule, I didn’t think he has the time to go to LegoLand (which is in Malaysia and we are in Singapore) to make the one-year pass worth it.
But he has a love for Legos. He had once said to me ‘I will pass on all my Lego to my son.’ That’s how highly he thinks of Lego.
So then, we decided to just head to LegoLand on this particular weekend and asked a friend and her husband, who is also crazy about Lego and toys in general, if they would like to join us. So they said ‘Yes” and by the time we picked them up and cleared customs, we reached LegoLand rather late, at about 10 plus in the morning!
The carpark at LegoLand is quite big but as usual, I was very cautious about parking in Malaysia. So after choosing which lot is ‘safer’ amongst the many others, we proceeded to the entrance.
There was quite a crowd. Our friends and us have to join different queues as we were queued up for our annual passes while they queued for tickets.
As many counters were opened for the annual passes, the queue moved quite fast. Unfortunately, for the daily ticket sales, only 2 counters were opened!! That meant it was a longer wait for our friends.
After we got our tickets, we got hungry. So we decided to grab an early lunch. There’s a small mall outside of LegoLand, which consists of many small eateries. We decided to have our meal at a briyani restaurant.
Well, the food wasn’t very nice but it was filling.
So we started our tour of LegoLand!
So we decided to just walk around and if we see any rides we would like to try, we would just join in the queue.
There were some cute rides and one of which was one which is similar to that of the teacup/teapot ride. There were a a couple of rides where one could get wet. But we thought we could go for those rides later on in the day. Then we decided to try the roller coaster which seemed to be the most exciting ride. And there was a long queue for this ride!
While we were queuing, a slight drizzle came down. Soon it became a heavy rain. It was heavy enough for the ride to be suspended. So one by one, people drop out of the queue as they were unaware of how long the ride suspension would be. So we advanced in the queue rather fast. We decided to stay in the queue as it appeared that this was a passing shower. We were right! About 30 mins later, the rides resumed.
We were initially concerned that the seats would be all wet but the staff wiped the seats with a cloth so we didn’t end up with soaked pants! 🙂 The ride was quite fun but it reminded me of how much I don’t enjoy such rides anymore! My ageing heart can’t take the g force as well as when I was in my teens backed with teenage foolhardiness 😛
After this ride, we headed for the 4D show. This show was such a disappointment! I have come to have high expectations of 4D shows especially after my experiences at Universal Studios. This show was soooooo boring!
And then it started to rain hard. We seeked shelter at the restaurant but so did a lot of people!!!! My girlfriend and I decided to go to the shop to buy umbrellas and/or raincoats while our husbands wait at the restaurant. The shop was about 10 mins walk away and we decided to get 2 rain coats and one umbrealla. You would think their raincoats and umbrella would be creative or a tad more interesting than normal umbrellas but they weren’t.
We walked around in the rain and by the time we reached the miniatures, the rain had slowed to a drizzle. And the miniatures, are the best part of LegoLand.
From the pictures, these look pretty ordinary. But when you see these miniatures in person, the sheer amount of effort in constructing all of these and more strikes you in the face! They are not quite miniature, but they definitely are compared to the real structures out there!
AS it was still drizzling, the husband decided not to use his camera so as to protect it from the rain. So we said we would definitely be back (of cos! Since we have the 1 year pass!) to capture these amazing creations in their full glory under lovely blue skies.
I guess we then had enough of LegoLand with our soaked shoes. So we headed towards the exit. Near the exit, we saw signs of rides on Lego cars. We got all excited!! Who doesn’t want to ride in a car made of Lego bricks right?! To our alas, the ride only caters for those below 6 or a certain height! Major disappointment!! The ride actually looks quite cool as the kids were maneuvering the car in en enclosed area whereby they had to follow traffic rules etc. Too bad for us. I think the guys were alot more disappointed than the ladies were.
And this ‘sculpture’ was one of the last things we saw on our way out.
Oh, there’s the Lego store of course! Lots of Lego there but nothing we don’t have in Singapore. And the prices seem to be at least on par, if not higher, than the prices in Singapore. Another huge disappointment for the men. They went prepared to spend money on Lego toys! and they got nothing!! You would think LegoLand would have some models unique to them but that’s not the case.
Oh well, till the next time then!
